3189196 - Unable to import data into non-leaf members in the new planning model in SAP Analytics Cloud(SAC)

Symptom

  • Unable to import data into non-leaf members in the new planning model in SAP Analytics Cloud(SAC)
  • Error "Must be leaf node in hierarchy"
  • Toggle "Conditional Validation" in Job Settings -> Validation Settings is off

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a Planning model with the new type.
  2. Create some dimensions, measures and one parent-child hierarchy.
  3. Input data into non-leaf members.
  4. Turn off the toggle Conditional Validation.
  5. Error "Must be leaf node in hierarchy" shows.

Cause

  • For planning models, by default, the fact data is not allowed to be imported to non-leaf nodes of a hierarchy.
  • The option Conditional Validation means that if it is not enabled, the default behavior above is applied to all hierarchies in this model.
  • When it is enabled, the selected hierarchies will still follow the default behavior but the data can be imported to non-leaf nodes of the unselected hierarchies.

Resolution

  1. Enable Conditional Validation.
  2. Unselect the hierarchies where you want to import data into non-leaf members.
  3. Save it and revalidate it.
