Symptom
In the new version of a sales quote, in the approval notes of a previous version, you notice that the author and timestamp are changed as soon as the new version is created.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Sales Work center
- Go to the Sales Quotes view
- Select Show all and find ABC (ABC represents the name of the sales quote)
- Go to the Approval Notes facet
- Here you will see for each approval note there is an author name and timestamp of the approval
- Go to the Version Facet
- In the Actions button, select New Version
- This creates a new version of the Sales quote XYZ (XYZ represents the new sales quote)
- Open the Sales Quote XYZ
- Go to Approval notes facet
Here you will see that the author name and time stamp have changed for the data that is copied from ABC.
Resolution
Due to challenges in the underlying framework, when a new version is created, the approval note history is taken into the new version. The name of the user, as well as the creation time stamp of the notes cannot be taken over but are newly determined.
In the new version, the system takes the current user who created the quote version and creation time stamp of this new version and updates this data against the data from previous version for approval note entries.
With the current framework structure, the behaviour cannot be changed.
The approval of a sales quote can still be audited, though: the correct names and dates are in the original quote version that was approved.
