3192782 - System Does Not Consider The Restrictions Maintained For a Logistics Area When Performing Logistics Area Count

Symptom

You have maintained Restriction for a particular Logistics Area to allow only the Storage of a particular Product. However, when performing "New Logistics Area Count", you discover that the system is allowing you to add Products which are restricted for the Logistics Area while you are confirming the Count Task.

Since the Product is restricted, you expected the system to report an error, and so you think this is a bug.

You also notice the same behavior during Goods Movement.

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Physical Inventory work center.
  2. Go to the Common Tasks and select New Logistics Area Count.
  3. Enter all Relevant Details and create a Logistics Area Count.
  4. Go to Monitoring and select By PI Count Document.
  5. Find and select the PI Count Document you have just created.
  6. Select the relevant Count Task and click confirm.
  7. Add a row containing a Product which is restricted for this Logistics Area.
  8. Confirm the Task.
  9. You can see that you are able Finish the Confirmation without the system triggering an error.

Cause

The Restrictions maintained at the Logistics Area will be taken into account when the system is trying to propose the logistics area: This means when Source and Destination Determination (SDD) is called either for inbound or outbound use cases.

In the Count use case, this is more of a manual activity and the system does not stop you from entering details which do not meet the restrictions criteria you have maintained for the Logistics Area.

Resolution

The system is therefore working as designed.
