3193254 - ASE upgrade fails with message 'Database live update' failed: Failed to disable auditing before upgrade. - SAP ASE for Business Suite

Symptom

  • ASE upgrade failed from ASE16 SP02 PL5 HF1 to ASE16 SP04 PL01;
  • In dev_sapdbctrl file, error 10353 reported:

DESCRIPTION: Server message: Number 10353, Severity 14, State 10, Line 1380, Server FT1, Procedure sp_configure --- Message string: You must  have any of the following role(s) to execute this command/procedure: 'sso_role' . Please contact a user with the appropriate role for help. DESCRIPTION: Failed to disable auditing before upgrade LAST OS-ERROR: (0) : The operation completed successfully.
SAP_DB_LiveUpdate: LiveUpdate failed

  • Auditing is enabled on the ASE server.
