3195474 - Locale name doesn't exist in locales.dat file - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • When starting an ASE or
  • When connecting from a (isql) client to ASE

  • Message(s) are returned that indicate a problem with locales setting
    • The locale name EN_IN is just an example, many different strings can be reported:

      Using locale name "EN_IN" defined in environment variable LANG
      Locale name "EN_IN" doesn't exist in your /sybase/SID/locales/locales.dat file

  • Other messages may be reported

    • When starting ASE

      kscsinit: connectivity library error. Operation: cs_ctx_alloc().
      Failed to initialize cslib
      Attempt to resize 'Ct-Lib Controller Manager' failed because a new controller could not be created.
