Can internal candidates be referred to a job by another employee?

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management

1. Login to the instance
2. Navigate to Careers
3. Look for any job with Employee Referral enabled
4. Click on Refer Friend to Job
5. Enter internal candidates company domain email address
6. An external profile will be created even though the candidate is internal

Currently there is no validation for verifying if the email ID entered is internal, hence the external candidate profile is always created.

Product Management team considers this behaviour as an enhancement. 

We suggest submitting an enhancement request on our Influence Portal. The more votes an idea receives from Community, the more chances it has to be considered to become an enhancement sooner.
