Symptom

  • DB59 connection test fails on step 3:

    dbmcli_neg: dbmcli_command_execute_error
    112Error!Connection failed to note <hostname>
    14 protocol error
    44 External program terminated with error code 2
    Determine status using SQL connection
    RC: 10709-
    Connection failed (RTE:protocol error)
    10709 Connection failed (RTE:protocol error) ...

  • dev trace shows:

    C  *** ERROR => Connect to DBM server failed, rc = -10709 (Connection failed (RTE:protocol error))

    B  ***LOG BY2=> sql error -10709 performing CON [dbds         1001]
    B  ***LOG BY0=> Connection failed (RTE:protocol error) [dbds         1001]
    B  *** ERROR => Could not get a shared connection for CONNAME = <SID>+ ab_get_connection: rc = -2
     [dbacds.c     893]

  • xserver_<host>_7200.prt shows:

    ERR 11824 Illegal VARPART value length: 65

  • dbmcli -d <DBID> -u control,password
    Error! Connection failed to node (local) for database <SID>:
    protocol error:got EVENTLIST
    11824 2022-06-07 10:47:09.000 ERROR: Illegal VARPART value length: 65 - (RTEReqRespPacket::GetVarPartValue)
