3199461 - Unable to format numeric value to display more than 2 decimals on a Waterfall Chart in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

  • Can only format the number to display up to 2 decimals on a Waterfall Chart.
  • Able to format other chart type, like a Bar Chart, to display more than 2 decimals.
  • Unable to format the numeric value to show more than 2 decimals on a Waterfall chart, in SAP Analytics Cloud.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In SAP Analytics Cloud, create a Story.
  2. Add a Waterfall Chart.
  3. Add 1 Measure, and 2 Dimensions to the Waterfall Chart.
  4. Format the number decimals to display on the chart, and notice it is only possible to display up to 2 decimals.

Cause

  • The number of decimals that can be displayed for a numeric value on a chart is determine by the number of decimals set for the Measure in the Model the chart is based on. 
        
  • Even a chart based on a Model with a Measure formatted for more than 2 decimals, cannot be formatted to display more than 2 decimals, when the Story is created in Classic Mode, and the Waterfall Chart use 1 Measure and 2 Dimensions.
          
  • This issue is currently under investigation by development.

Resolution

  • This issue is currently under investigation by development.
        
  • To format numeric value to show more than 2 decimals on a Waterfall Chart, create the Story in the Optimized View Mode, instead of the Classic View Mode.
