3199504 - How to migrate the CDS Views from Deprecated app to the New Custom CDS View app

Symptom

In 2308 release, the old Custom CDS Views app was removed from the system and in order to see the Custom CDS Views created with this app you need to migrate these views to the new application.

If you don't migrate your Custom CDS Views from the old app to the new one, they will not be accessible, this means that you'll not be able to edit, delete, display or preview the views with the Old Custom CDS Views app anymore unless you migrate them. You'll not be forced to migrate the views, but if you want to access them, you'll need to migrate to do it. 

So, how to migrate the CDS views developed in the old app to the new one?

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud after 2308 release.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Custom CDS Views app
  2. Search for a Custom CDS View 
  3. CDS View not found 

Resolution

To transfer data from Custom CDS Views OLD app to the Custom CDS Views NEW app, you can use migration views function provided in the new app.

  1. Open the Custom CDS Views NEW app and select Migrate Views button

  2. A list of views that have been published is displayed in a pop-up. Select the ones you would like to migrate and click OK.

Note

  • During the migration process, the draft versions of the views are deleted. This process is irreversible.

  • Views with a high or very high rework priority cannot be migrated until you've solved the rework tasks. If a migrated custom CDS view contains rework tasks with priority 'Medium' or 'Low', you can see the rework-related information in the Overview list by filtering for Rework, Task Category and Task Priority.
