3199855 - Trigger rule to default a field in Company Structure Overview

Symptom

The business rule configured under an object (such as Department, Job Classification or Legal Entity) to default a value in Company Structure Overview is triggering, but not changing the values.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Configure a business rule under an object, like Job Classification or Department, to default a value (for example, the effective date) while creating the object.
  2. Go to Company Structure Overview and configure a new structure starting with the object that has the rule configured.
  3. The rule triggers, but no change happens in the Company Structure Overview.

Cause

This is expected behavior. The company structure overview is a feature that only shows the information; it does not create it. When the rule is configured to trigger while initializing an object, it will work as expected only while the object is being created, which is not the case of the CSO.

Resolution

The business rules can be configured on Company Structure Overview only to raise messages. It is not possible to configure rules to make changes.
