Error - Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'bindingType') on opening a template in document generation mapping tool

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central: Document Generation

1. Go to Admin Tools > Manage Document Generation Template Mapping
2. Search for affected template > select template > Error: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'bindingType')
   
   

One possibility for this error is placeholder having space at beginning or at end, or having a comma in between in the placeholder label.

Remove the space at start/end and any commas in placeholder label from Manage Document Generation Template > affected template > save. The error will not happen on opening template mapping now.
