3200385 - Migration from Basic Rules to Dedicated Rule Scenarios in Time Off as of the 2H 2022 Release

Symptom

With the b2205 release, you see a warning message when saving of a Time Type or Time Account Type where a business rule is assigned which uses the Basic Rule Scenario.

This is applied to Take Rules/Absence Validation, Accrual, Hire, Termination, Period-End Processing, & Interim Update rules.

Note: This is a warning message, so you will still be able to process with the save action.

Examples:

For Absence Validation rules with Basic Rule Scenario configured and assigned to the Time Type:

  • You have configured the ***** as Basic rule. Please change the rule scenario to "Absence Validation" as the basic scenario will not be supported in future for this rule

For Accrual/Hire/Termination/Interim update/PEP:

  • You have configured the ***** as Basic rule. Please change the rule scenario to "Accrual" as the basic scenario will not be supported in future for this rule
  • You have configured the "Interim Account Update Rule" as Basic rule. Please change the rule scenario to "Interim Time Account Update" as the basic scenario will not be supported in future for this rule
  • You have configured the "Period-End Processing Rule" as Basic rule. Please change the rule scenario to "Period End Processing" as the basic scenario will not be supported in future for this rule

With b2211 release we will also provide two new check tool checks for migrating from basic rules to dedicated rule scenarios.

The current warning message will be converted into an error in a future release. Please start migrating your rule scenarios using the new check tool checks provided under Time Off Rules.
The new check tool checks under Time Off > Rules are:
  • TimeAccountTypeNoBasicRules

  • TimeTypeNoBasicRule

With these two new check tool checks there is an auto-fix available. After following the four step procedure for automatic execution, the system migrates all rules that can be converted without errors to the target scenario.

For rules the system cannot migrate automatically, the customer should still use the manual way to check and resolve issues reported (as shown in "Proposed Solution" text in screenshot below).
