Symptom
This is a guide on Updating Compensation data via legacy User Directory File (UDF).
Note that this is usually implemented in templates that do not have EC integration enabled. Updating these compensation fields in a template that has EC data configured is not recommended unless it is a hybrid template.

Resolution
- Go to Admin Center
- Select Compensation > Compensation Home
- Choose Actions for All Plans
- Click on Import/Export Data > All Plans > Employee Data Export
- Click on Specify Compensation Data Updating Options
- Check Include User Compensation Data
- Check Include imported compensation field(s) (and planner flag if applicable) defined for the selected compensation form template(s) below:
- Select at least one template
- Click Export User File
- This will download the User Directory File (UDF) CSV file to your computer
- This version of the UDF will have additional columns beyond the standard elements configured in the data model; these would be the Compensation fields for the selected Compensation template, as well as any legacy eligibility fields if Include imported field-level eligibility fields with system default import keys
- Once you've populated the related fields, save your CSV file and go back to Actions for all plans
- Click on Import/Export Data > All Plans > Employee Data Import
- NOTE: if EC is enabled for the instance, you import under Admin Center > Update User Information > Import Employee Data, then selecting Basic Import.
- NOTE: if the instance is not EC-enabled but you do not see the option, please follow the instructions in KBA 2260861 - How to enable the option 'Employee Data Import' under 'Action for all plans' page
- Click Choose File and select your updated CSV
- If you've already launched forms, be sure to click on Specify Compensation form updating options and then ticking either Update Variable Pay forms or Update Compensation forms.
- Once you've selected the options for your import, hit Import User File
