SAP Knowledge Base Article - PublicSymptom
When executing a data action from a story with a parameter linked to a Story filter, the following error message occurs:
“An unexpected technical error occurred and has been logged. Please contact SAP for further assistance.”
Note: The error doesn’t happen when the data action is triggered in Edit mode. Check the data action monitor to see the error with the parameter "No value set".

Reproducing the Issue
Run data action
Cause
The hierarchy was not selected when adding the filter therefore the story filter did not match the parameter filter.
Resolution
Select the hierarchy when adding the filter.
