Symptom

  • Not possible to maintain values for restriction types  'Authorization Group for Product' and 'Authorization Group for Product Type' in the Business Catalog SAP_CMD_BC_PR_MAINT_PC
  • Write Restrictions screen for 'Authorization Group for Product' shows 'No data' in the app 'Maintain Business Roles'
  • Write Restrictions screen for 'Authorization Group for Product Type' shows 'No data' in the app 'Maintain Business Roles'
  • The SSCUI "Define Material Groups" ( 102665 ) has a field to maintain 'Authorization Group for Product Group' but no SSCUI is available to maintain 'Authorization Group for Product' or 'Authorization Group for Product Type'

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Access the App 'Maintain Business Roles'
  2. Select the Role with the Business Catalog SAP_CMD_BC_PR_MAINT_PC assigned
  3. Press the 'Edit' Button
  4. Press 'Maintain Restrictions' Button
  5. Select Restricted under the dropdown menu for Restriction 'Write, Read, Value Help'
  6. Press the 'Edit' Button beside the Restrictions 'Authorization Group for Product' or 'Authorization Group for Product Type'
  7. Press Ranges tab
  8. Screen shows 'No data'

Cause

The restrictions 'Authorization Group for Product' and  'Authorization Group for Product Type' are free text fields .

Any value up to a length of 4 characters can be maintained in the field

There is no predefined list of Groups available or an SSCUI / App to specifically maintained them

'Authorization Group for Product Type' 

The restriction 'Authorization Group for Product Type' checks the field 'Authorization Group' maintained for a Material Type in the SSCUI 'Define Attributes of Material Types' ( 103539 )

If no authorization group is entered, no specific authorization check is carried out for materials of this material type

'Authorization Group for Product'

The restriction 'Authorization Group for Product' checks the field 'Authorization Group' available in the Mange Product Master Data app on the General Information Tab

System Works as Designed.

To maintain values for the restrictions  'Authorization Group for Product' or 'Authorization Group for Product Type'

  1. Access the App 'Maintain Business Roles'
  2. Select the Role with the Business Catalog SAP_CMD_BC_PR_MAINT_PC assigned
  3. Press the 'Edit' Button
  4. Press 'Maintain Restrictions' Button
  5. Select Restricted under the dropdown menu for Restriction 'Write, Read, Value Help'
  6. Press the 'Edit' Button beside the Restrictions 'Authorization Group for Product' or 'Authorization Group for Product Type'
  7. Press Ranges tab
  8. Press 'Add' Button
  9. Enter a value in the From Column
  10. Press OK
  11. The Value is populated in the Values field for the Restriction involved
