Symptom

  • The following message happened during creation of the repository

    Unable to check connection to the repository
    The TCP/IP connection to the host <hostname>, port 1433 has failed. Error: Connect timed out
    The specified data service repository information is invalid, specify valid data service repository information.

  • When trying to connect the hostname:port using telnet, connection failed.
    telnet <hostname> <port>
    Connecting To <hostname>...Could not open connection to the host, on port 1433: Connect failed
