3209238 - Cannot logon to SAPGUI after Error 14128 followed by Error 208 - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • You receive "SAP System Message: rabax during sapgui logon" popup and cannot logon to the system from sapgui.
  • You find the following error in developer trace (dev_w*) at that time.
    • (14126) [ZZZZZ] [SAP][ASE ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Enterprise]Couldn't find an available partition descriptor. Raise the value of the configuration parameter 'number of open partitions' for more partition descriptors.
    • (208) [42000] [SAP][ASE ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Enterprise]<TABLE_NAME> not found. Specify owner.objectname or use sp_help to check whether the object exists (sp_help may produce lots of output).
  • ASE error log may contain the following message:
    • server  Increase the config parameter 'number of open partitions' to avoid descriptor reuse. Reuse may result in performance degradation.
