3209768 - Tab Key Moves to Unexpected Screen Position

Symptom

You are navigating through a system screen using the tab key from the keyboard, and notice that the system sets focus on an unexpected line from the table, or sets focus on a read-only field.

Environment

SAP Business Bydesign

Reproducing the Issue

For this document, we will take as an example the Items tab from a Sales Order document:

  1. Go to the Sales Order work center.
  2. Enter the Common Tasks view.
  3. Click on New Sales Order (advanced).
  4. Go to the Items tab.
  5. Click on the Fast Entry button.
  6. Enter a valid product ID.
  7. Press the Tab key to Quantity and enter 1.
  8. Press the Tab to new line and repeat the process described in steps 6 and 7, until multiple lines were entered.

When pressing Tab to enter the Quantity for an item, it is possible to see that the cursor may skip rows.

Cause

The navigation of the system screens for complex elements is designed to be made through the keyboard arrow keys in order to ensure a consistent behavior.

Resolution

The system works as expected.

User should use the keyboard arrow keys to move the focus between elements within a complex UI element (for example a table or a list). This implementation follows the Accessibility Rules in SAP Fiori, which is linked in the See Also section of this KBA.
