Symptom
- While upgrading SAP ASE database from version 15.7 to 16.0 SP03 PL10, the SAP Host Agent returns this just before completion of the database server upgrade:
Error: sapdbctrl: Failed to enable granular permissions. - Trying to execute the below commands to update granular permissions as per Note, 2800483 - "SYB: Upgrade / Update SAP ASE with SAP Host Agent 7.21 PL43 and later", but still encounter the same error:
/saphostctrl -function LiveDatabaseUpdate -dbname <SID> -dbtype syb -updatemethod Execute -updateoption TASK=CONFIG_GP
/saphostctrl -user sapadm - -function LiveDatabaseUpdate -dbname <SID> -dbtype syb -updatemethod Execute -updateoption TASK=CONFIG_GP - Additionally, this message is reported in the dev_sapdbctrl log file:

The current 'max memory' value '<current_value>', is not sufficient to change the parameter 'permission cache entries' to '1024'. 'max memory' should be greater than 'total logical memory' '<expected_value>' required for the configuration.
