When there's no specific status selected in the Application Status Pipeline, the pipeline has a specific color:

However, when clicking on a specific status, all other statuses will change the color:

This is an expected behavior.

The reason why the statuses will change their color, unless the selected one, is to highlight the status that has been selected. This is the expected behavior from the UI to let the user know which status was selected.
