Symptom

  • The Housekeeper Garbage Collector (HK GC) process terminates with an "Infected with signal 11" error in the module hk__wash_mass():

    Current process (0x55002b) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
    Address 0x0x0000000001e07a52 (hk__wash_mass+0x102), siginfo (code, address) = (1, 0x0x0000000000000010)
  • This error is followed by a stack trace that includes functions:

    hk__wash_mass
    hk__pool_wash
    hk__wash_main

  • The HK GC process fails while it is holding a spinlock in default data cache resulting in abrupt ASE crash.
