3212437 - Percentage Pay Component Amount is not Automatically Updated when Importing Base Salary

Symptom

The requirement is to have the Bonus (Percentage Component) automatically updated when importing changes to Base Salary.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

The behavior described below only happens when “Enable Centralized Services for Recurring Pay Component Information (Applicable only for data imports from UI and API)” is DISABLED in Company System and Logo Settings.

When importing changes to Base Salary, it is required that the existing Percentage Bonus Pay Component value gets automatically updated based on the new Base Salary.

Sample scenario:

  1. Initial Base Salary is set to 100,000.00 USD, and the bonus is set to 35%, so the amount displayed in for the Bonus in Compensation Information block is set to 35,000.00 USD.

  2. Now, Base Salary's amount it updated to 150,000.00 USD via import. Is is required that the new bonus amount would be automatically set to 52,500.00 USD.

  3. However, after the import, bonus amount remains set to 35,000.00 USD. It is not automatically recalculated.

Cause

As per the current product design this is expected behavior with the legacy import feature.

Resolution

  1. When the option “Enable Centralized Services for Recurring Pay Component Information (Applicable only for data imports from UI and API)” is DISABLED in Admin Center / Company System and Logo Settings:

To ensure calculated amount for Percentage Pay Component is implemented correctly, the Bonus Pay Component must be included in the import file.
In case it is left out of the import file the Calculated Amount for Bonus Component would not be automatically calculated.

  2. When the option “Enable Centralized Services for Recurring Pay Component Information (Applicable only for data imports from UI and API)” is ENABLED in Admin Center / Company System and Logo Settings from the release b2211 onwards:

When the Base Salary’s amount is updated via import. Then, the “calculated amount” of  bonus pay component (or any percentage pay component which has Base Salary as base) will be automatically recalculated AND this without including it in the import. In case of deletion of the Base Salary pay component via import, then the “calculated amount” of the bonus will be 0.
