Symptom
You are in a sales document that had a party automatically added. You can add the same party manually but then cannot delete it or select/deselect its primary flag.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
We are considering here in the example opportunities, but this applies to any sales document.
- Go to the Sales work center.
- Open the Opportunities view.
- Open opportunity ABC (where ABC is the ID of the opportunity).
- Open the Sales Team view.
- Notice the automatically added party DEF (where DEF is the party).
- Click in the Add button.
- Select DEF and save the opportunity.
- Click in the Edit button.
- You cannot click in the trash icon (delete) or change the DEF primary checkbox.
You may have seen in the business configuration fine-tuning activity the tooltip for the Forbid Manual Changes column that says 'If you configure a party role to 'Forbid Manual Changes', it is recommended that you restrict this party role from the selection using Code List Restrictions. Party roles that are not automatically determined can still be deleted', so you believe this is an inconsistency.
Cause
In your business configuration fine-tuning activity (in this case 'Opportunities'), in the maintain involved parties hyperlink, the party has flagged the column "Forbid Manual Changes". You should, in addition to this BC setting, disallow to enter this party role manually then by defining appropriate code list restrictions. This is shown in the tooltip.
When you mix automated determined parties with manual entries the settings for the automated parties overrule the settings for manual entries.
Resolution
Please seek your consulting/implementation partners to see the use of a code list restriction to not allow manual entries of the party.
