Symptom
- You want to have a rule that pulls a value that is set in a field while filling in a new hire employee.
- Example is you create manually one recurring paycomponent during new hire of employee and while still filling in this new hire you want to have a rule that pulls the value set in first recurring paycomponent to be used for calculating the 2nd recurring paycomponent and set it.
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
- Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- Log in and create a new oninit rule to be used in "add new employee" tool.
- This rule you want to do a lookup on value set on field while filling in new hire
- Now go into the "add new employee" tool and fill in to create a new hire.
Cause
- This is currently a limitation and can not be done.
Resolution
- While creating a new hire in Employee Central, there is no data yet stored on the backend database, so the rule will not be able to do a lookup on those values.
- The rule will look like it runs, but simply pull a Null value.
- It is possible to just lookup rules, but only on objects or data that is already stored outside of filling in the new hire (For example do a lookup to a field in a job classification object).
