3217258 - Journal Entry Voucher: You Can Select Profit Centers of the Companies for which You Are Not Allowed to

While creating Journal Entry Voucher, you find that although you are assigned to "General Ledger - Journal Entry Vouchers" work center view with restriction to company B but you're still able to select all the profit centers of other companies. However, for the cost centers, you can only select the ones under company B.

For example, company A is the parent company and below are the org units with functions:

-1. A:  Company (Parent Company)

--2. 1000:  Business Residence, Segment, Profit center, Cost Center

---3.  2000:  Profit center

---3.  B:  Company

----4. 3000:  Business Residence, Segment, Profit center, Cost Center

Company C is another company which does not belong to company A:

-1.  C: Company

--2. 4000: Business Residence, Segment, Profit center, Cost Center

(A,B and C represent the Company ID. 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 represent the Org Unit ID.)

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to General Ledger work center.
2. Click on New Journal Entry Voucher.
3. Enter Company B.
4. Click on Add Row.
5. Click on search option for Profit Center, you will see Org Units '1000 & 2000 & 3000'.
6. However, click on search option for Cost Center, you will only see org unit '3000'.
7. For comparison, if you enter Company C in Journal Entry Voucher and click on search option either for Profit Center or Cost Center, you will only see Org Unit '4000'.

When creating a Journal Entry Voucher and selecting a company then the list of profit centers for a new item row is different from the list of cost centers.

If the company has a parent company in the organization structure, then all profit centers under that parent company are also included in the pick list.

However, the JEV Item pick list for the cost center is always just the cost centers under that entered company.

This is the way the application has been designed and to change it would affect other users who may require this functionality.

A request to change this existing functionality and allow it to be configured can be added to the following influence SAP ByDesign application web portal and the request will be considered for future releases of the application.
