Symptom
Some or all users are not able to see or edit the value of a Custom Object field despite the correct permissions in the Job Requisition XML template. Here's an example on how the field should be appearing for the users, but actually the ability to see or edit the value is missing:
"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Cause
If the required permission was correctly granted in the Job Requisition XML template but still users are not able to see or edit the value, the reason behind this behavior is the Secured flag in the Object being set as "True". In this case, it's required to grant users permissions through RBP to see and/or edit the Object values.
Resolution
To grant the necessary permissions, it's first require to identify where the permissions are set in RBP:
- Go to Configure Object Definition;
- Search for the affected Object;
- Under Security, check the Permissions Category field.
- You can also confirm here if the Object has been set as Secured equals "True".
- The permission category for the above example is "Miscellaneous Permissions" but this can change depending on your configuration, hence the reason why its required to confirm.
Now, you need to grant the permissions:
Notice that it's not possible to grant the permissions in a Recruiting Role level. RBP permissions are granted in a user level only.
- Go to Manage Permissions Roles;
- Identify the role desired;
- Open the Permission Category set in the Object;
- Grant the desired permission: See and/or edit.
