3217673 - ASE started with -T859 hangs with all processes blocked - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE started with -T859 hangs with all processes blocked
  • The ASE errorlog may show (many) messages like 'Resource->rattrib_readers'
  • ASE error log may start reporting message 1601 around the time the hang starts:

    Error: 1601, Severity: 17, State: 3
    There are not enough 'user connections' available to start a new process. Retry when there are fewer active users, or ask your System Administrator to reconfigure ASE with more user connections.

    • 16.0 SP04 or higher

  • Only when ASE is started with trace flag 859
