3217828 - Creation of Serial Number Failed

Error "creation of serial number XXX failed" occurs when posting goods receipt for Customer Return Notification (IDN).

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Inbound Logistics Work Center.
2. Navigate to Inbound Delivery Notifications View.
3. Search for the IDN YYY.
4. Choose Post Goods Receipt button.
5. Go to Line Items- Serial Number subtab.
6. Fulfill the Serial Number as XXX, then the error occurs.

You did not fill in serial number for the product while creating an IDN and you filled in the SN when posting goods receipt based on this.

Therefore the expected error would occur.

Please fill in the new serial number for the product during creating the IDN, if you want to create a new serial number.
