The first thing to highlight is that each profile section contain an unique Section ID/Code. That information can be checked in Manage Data > EmployeeProfilePageConfig > PP3Page;





The importance of Section ID/Code is mainly related to permissions.

In Configure People Profile you can have multiple sections with the same label. For demonstrating purposes we will use the Talent Profile section as example.

For each section there is a specific permission in Manage Permission Roles > Employee Views. But if all sections, or several sections had the same Label, how would the system know which one you are adding permission to?

The answer is: by following the Section ID/Code.

What is the impacts of creating new Sections?

You can have as many sections as you would like, the only thing you need to be careful is when creating multiple sections with the same name, each of them will have an unique Section ID/Code, meaning you need to add permission to each of them.

The other thing you should be aware of is: let's say we have two "Talent Profile" sections. One of them with 10 subsections (visible to employees) and the other with none, and we decide to move all 10 subsections from the first "Talent Profile" section to the second one.

Even though both sections have the same name you should still navigate to Manage Permission Roles > Employee Views and enable permission to the "second" Talent Profile section.

Otherwise, no one will be able to see any of the previously visible 10 subsections within Talent Profile section.
