3219162 - All Manager Assignments of an Employee are Delimited after his/her own Transfer

Symptom

After an employee is transferred to a new position, the system automatically removes his manager assignments, even of org units that does not seem to be involved in the transfer. This can lead to a situation where org units don't have a manager anymore, and in the personnel file of employees of these org units,  managers of superordinate org units may be displayed as their managers.

Environment

Cause

This is the expected system behavior. After the transfer of an employee, the manager position for all the org units where the employee was a manager previously get delimited. The personnel file of the employees of these org units may show the managers of the next above reporting line unit.

Resolution

While transferring an employee using the Transfer Employee feature under Personnel Administration Regular Task, you can now see the organizational units managed by that employee, if any, under the Is Manager For section. The system shows the manager assignments of the employee that are valid on the transfer date provided.

You can now also retain the managing position assignments of that employee after the transfer event. You can do this by selecting the option Retain Manager Assignments.
