Symptom

Error 'Upload failed' when trying to upload a catalog using a CSV file.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Product Portfolio work center.
  2. Go to Catalogs view.
  3. Click New button and select Supplier Catalog.
  4. Enter the mandatory information.
  5. Click Browse button.
  6. Insert the file in TXT.
  7. Click Import button. After some time see that the Import Status is Failed.
  8. Click View Import Log.

See in the Description the message 'Upload failed'.

Cause

The file format being used is not correct.

Resolution

Do the import using the following steps:

  1. Go to Product Portfolio work center.
  2. Choose Catalogs view.
  3. Click Open catalog template file.
  4. Type all necessary details.

Avoid pasting data in the first row, this can break the template.

  1. Click Autofill ID.
  2. Click Generate.
  3. Click Save and Save it on your Desktop.
  4. After saving, navigate to the file and open it, so you will be able to visualize the csv format with the data separated by semicolons.
  5. Again go to Product Portfolio work center.
  6. Choose Catalogs view.
  7. Click button New.
  8. Choose Supplier Catalog.
  9. Enter catalog name and Supplier ID.
  10. Click Browse and Choose same file that you saved earlier.
  11. Click Import.
