This article describes the behavior of the Initiate Background Check Button and Background Check portlet in Recruiting.

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management 

a. The Take Action > Initiate Background Check Button is controlled by the role-based permissions in Manage Permission Roles > [Role] > Permission > Recruiting Permissions > Background Check Initiate Permission and Background Check Update Permission.

These permissions will trigger your background check integration via Integration Center (if already setup).

b. Only use these permissions if you do not use Intelligent Services with the Background Check Integration Center job. When Intelligent Services Center (ISC) > Update of Job Application or Job Application Status is used, the ISC will listen to any status or application changes and will trigger the jobs linked to it (usually Integration Center jobs), hence there is no need to manually trigger Take Action > Initiate Background Check Button.

c. The visibility of the Background Check Portlet is controlled by the feature permission backgroundCheck. This feature permission does not control the visibility of Take Action > Initiate Background Check Button. This feature controls which recruiting users and in which pipeline statuses the background check portlet will appear in.
