3221207 - Pending time is reduced and execution time is increased in the data action log in SAP Analytics Cloud for Planning (SAC)


Since the QRC2 2022 release, you have noticed that the pending time for the data action dramatically reduced but in the same time, the execution time increased so that the total runtime is nearly the same.

You did not change anything on the data action itself.

There was a shift between "Pending time" and "Execution time" with QRC2 2022. In detail,

  • data action execution requires some preparation of the execution, e.g., validating the data action, parameters and access rights; preparing the target version; generating the artifacts for the execution
  • so far (until QRC1 2022) this preparation was done synchronously and thus "wrongly" added as pending time, as the execution time was covering the asynchronous part only.
  • since QRC2 2022, the development team moved the preparation also to async and pending time will only cover the time the data action execution is waiting in the queue
    • this queue waiting time is influenced by the following aspects: is there another data action running for this user or on the target version (if it's a shared private version)? are there enough resources (CPU and memory) available to run the execution? typically if nothing is blocking the execution the pending time is around 1-2s.


It's right that you see this shift. You can not do much about this preparation time as it basically belongs to the execution itself (that's why it's now also shown as part of the execution time).
