3221242 - How to set the Edge (based on Chromium) as the default browser control in single file Installer aiming SAP GUI distribution on multiple workstations

Symptom

On 19th of May 2021, Microsoft has announced to stop support for the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser as of 15th of June 2022 (more information available in SAP Note 3058309 and SAP Note 2999251). In addition, as of release 7.70 SAP is offering a more modern browsing experience inside SAP GUI by integrating the Microsoft WebView2 control (Edge based on Chromium) as an alternative to the Internet Explorer Control (also refer to SAP Note 2913405 for more information).

With this in mind, SAP GUI for Windows strongly recommends using Microsoft Edge WebView2 as the new default browser control, being an alternative for the Internet Explorer Browser Control.
