3221437 - System replication is failed due to "Connection refused: Primary has to run in log mode normal for system replication!"

Symptom

  • You have set up system replication.
  • Log mode is set to "normal" in system level
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/custom/config/global.ini
    [persistence]
    log_mode = normal
  • Replication status of some services are in ERROR instead of ACTIVE. 

  • Following error message can be found in service trace in secondary site
    e sr_dataaccess    DisasterRecoverySecondaryImpl.cpp(01005) : Error occurred during compatibility check: exception  1: no.3000303  (DataAccess/impl/DisasterRecoveryProtocol.cpp:3433) TID: 13617
        Primary is not in log mode normal or log mode cannot be determined
