3223414 - "null object loaded from local variable 'requestGet'" error using OData Adapter in SAP Cloud Integration

Symptom

You are trying to send a message from SAP Cloud Integration to another system, using OData adapter, and the messages are failling with the error:

  • java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method org.apache.http.client.methods.HttpGet.releaseConnection() of a null object loaded from local variable 'requestGet'

In LJS Logs of the SAP Cloud Integration (Monitor → System log files → LJS log) you can also see the error:

  • java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Illegal character in query at index
