3223846 - User Cannot Edit Child Picklist Field Despite the Correct Permissions - Recruiting Management

The user is not able to edit Child Picklist field in the Job Requisition or in the Offer Approval despite having the necessary permissions and Parent Picklist field having a value already selected.

In the following sample case, Country is the Parent Picklist field and Custom Parent Child is the Child Picklist field.

This is an expected behavior as the Parent Picklist field is not an editable field. The behavior will not change if the Parent Picklist field value is already selected.

This will occur when there's a Parent-Child Picklist relationship where the Parent Picklist field has read-only permission. This applies for both Job Requisition and Offer Approvals.

Also, for Offer Approvals, it will also occur regardless if the field is a standard field coming from another template or a standalone field set as non-custom token field. Please refer to the following KBA for more details for edit permissions on Offer Detail page: 2411448 - Permission to Edit Offer Approval Fields in Recruiting. In this situation, if the Parent Picklist field is a standard field coming from another template (Job Requisition or Job Application), both values from the Parent and Child Picklist fields will need to be set in the source template.

If you need to select a different value on Offer Approvals, as a workaround, you can remove the Parent Picklist Field ID from the Child Picklist Field in the Offer Detail Template (No change to the Parent-Child picklist in the source Job Requisition or Job Application template).

For Job Requisitions, the only way to workaround that would be by granting write permission on both fields in order to enable the child picklist to become editable.
