Status of Employee Time Sheet in Manage Data shows as 'Approved' although the Workflow status is shown as 'Cancelled'

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central – Time Sheet

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Employee records timesheet.
  2. Employee's Timesheet is sent for approval from the Manager.
  3. Manager clicks on 'Withdraw' button.
  4. Manager amends (saves) the time on behalf of employee.
  5. Manager submits it again.
  6. Check statuses of workflow (Manage Workflow Requests) and Employee Time Sheet object in Manage Data.

Cause

Standard behavior

Resolution

  1. Employee records time (e.g. 7 Hours) on say 18th July 2022 and Submits.
  2. Manage Workflow Requests – Request is sent for approval.
  3. Proxy as Manager – Manager Clicks on Withdraw.
  4. Changes the recording time from 07:00 to 05:00 Hours.
  5. Manager submits the request again.
  6. There is no need to approve this request again as the Manager does the amendment. Hence the status of the timesheet will be Approved (instead of ‘To be Approved’).
  7. Manage Workflow Requests > Shows Cancelled Status.
  8. Manage Data > Employee Time Sheet (Shows Approved Status).

Employee (Test Case 1) has submitted the time sheet into a workflow. But the manager (Jack Kincaid) withdrew the time sheet. Hence, the workflow was cancelled. He made a little change and submitted the time sheet again. As he is the only workflow participant, the workflow for the time sheet was skipped and approved directly.
