Symptom
Whenever business data is created, deleted or updated in the system, a communication might be sent from one business document to update another which is related to that business process.
The Process Communication Errors work center view lists the errors that might occur between the communication and this knowledge base article will explain how to handle the errors listed.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Resolution
When a process communication error occurs, system will try to handle it in the following ways, depending on the business documents involved:
- System creates a task and assigns it to a relevant user to act upon it;
- System creates an incident and reports it to the provider;
- System restarts the communication and this solves the error automatically.
Below, you will find what action to take in each case:
Errors with Tasks
- Go to the Application and User Management work center.
- Under Business Data Consistency, access the Process Communication Errors work center view.
- Change selection to "Open Errors with Tasks"
- Select the relevant task and click Edit
- This will only be possible if the task is assigned to you. If not, you can take over it by first clicking the Take Over Task button.
- Check the solution proposal and take the necessary action by using the Actions button (check the See Also section for more information).
Errors with Incidents
Errors which require no action
In the Process Communication Errors work center view, you can also set selection to "Open Errors which require no action."
These are the errors for which—as stated above—the system restarted the process communication and it completed successfully in the new attempt, hence why they require no action. These logs are cleared automatically after 6 weeks.
