3229928 - 504 Gateway Time-out error when connecting to endpoint via Open Connectors Adapter in Cloud Integration integration flow

Symptom

In Cloud Integration iflow , connection to OpenConnectors (OCN) endpoint e.g.: https://api.openconnectors.<region>.ext.hana.ondemand.com/<path> fails due to following exception:
