3230363 - Value '#' occurs in value help search in Analytical Grid Apps (Web Dynpro Grid Apps)

Symptom

Under value search 'Search and Select' in Analytical Grid Apps like 'Year-to-Date Balances' App or 'Trial Balance' App initial value '#' comes up.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Enter App 'Year-to-Date Balances' or 'Trial Balance'.
  2. Select 'Search and Select' option of 'Company Code'.
  3. Value '#' is displayed with Description 'Not assigned'.

Search and Select

Resolution

'#' is within BW the representation of an initial value and occurs in Analytical Grid Apps (Web Dynpro Grid Apps) and it is added to all value help (you will find same entry in the value help for G/L Account, Cost Center or Profit Center). It is not an error or bug, it is not a value from master data table and cannot be influenced by the customer. Technically it is an additional entry to be able to filter for initial.
