3231571 - "Substring access" error during activation of IOBJ characteristic with External SAP HANA view

Symptom

Error during InfoObject characteristic Activation:

  • InfoProvider <IOBJ_technical_name>: Unknown error occurred
  • Substring access (offset = 0, length = <number1>) to a data object of the size <number2> exceeds valid boundaries.
  • The sub area access (Offset = 0, Länge =
    &LEN G TH&) on a data object of size 23, lies outwith the  valid boundaries.
  • >> Error in program CL_RS2HANA_AUTH_MANAGER=======CP (Include CL_RS2HANA_AUTH_MANAGER=======CM02C, source position 125)

(where number1 > number2).

The affected characteristic also has External SAP HANA view enabled.

The same error may also occur when attempting to repair the External SAP HANA view of the characteristic from RS2HANA_ADMIN transaction.
