3231913 - Changes Made to Existing Work-Order are not Reflected in Workflows

Symptom

When a Work-Order (WO) is extended with change of Function or department for example from R&D to Sales, the subsequent workflows trigger with reference to the original WO- sending the workflow request to first manager instead of new manager.

Environment

  • Product version: SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite Core 2205
  • Employee Central - Contingent Workforce

Reproducing the Issue

  • Make change to WO (Extend WO)
  • Change the WO details such as from R&D to Sale or change the manager
  • Trigger a workflow
  • The details in workflow are those of the original WO and not for the changes made.

Cause

This is expected behaviour.

WO are kind of Once of Activity that can only be extended without change. Once configured and used, WO are immutable  and therefore workflows will be routed with reference to its original configuration for existing contingent workers (CWK).

In other words, when a WO is created and consumed by a contingent worker, subsequent change to that WO will not be reflected for current CWK but it will be reflected for future CWK .

Resolution

If details of WO is changed (expected behaviour)

  • Change is not reflected on existing CWK
  • Change is reflected on New CWK (future hires)

Workaround: Insert a new WO.

  • Change will be reflected for all new + existing CWK
  • Workflow will be filled with new details and directed to correct approvers
