3232107 - Step "Byte Code Adapter Installation" fails with error "Failed to find javaPath for node" in SAP Solution Manager 7.2

Symptom

The following error occurs when executing step "Byte Code Adapter Installation":

Failed to update VM parameters

After the error occurs, you notice the following error in the SMDAgentApplication log of the affected server:

[Thread[ExRun:default_2,5,default:ExecTG] ] Error [J2eeNodeIntrospector.getJavaPath] Failed to find javaPath for node <NNNNNNNNN>
[EXCEPTION]
com.sap.smdagent.vmmanager.VMManagerException: Could not find instance id:<NNNNNNN>
