3234190 - The Valuation Method of Cost Estimate is Unexpected -- Purchase Contract Price

You simulate the material cost estimate, you see for some costed objects, the valuation method are Purchase Contract Price which are unexpected ones.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Inventory Valuation Work Center.
2. Go to New Cost Estimate View.
3. Enter Material AAA, Business Residence HH, Valid From DD.MM.YYYY (AAA is the ID of material, HH is the ID of Business Residence, DD.MM.YYYY is the date).
4. Click simulate.
5. In the results, you see the company is QQ and for costed object BBB, the valuation method is Purchase Contract Price(QQ is the ID of the company, BBB is the ID of material).

You don't expect the system to pick the Purchase Contract Price as the valuation method, because there is no valid Purchase Contract Price for this company QQ. You can check it as below:

1. Go to Sourcing and Contracting Work Center.
2. Go to Contracts View.
3. Select all contracts and open advanced search.
4. Enter Company QQ, product ID BBB.
5. Click go.
6. There is no Released Contract of the combination.

There is a Release contract for product BBB but not for company QQ, you can check as below:

1. Go to Sourcing and Contracting Work Center.
2. Go to Contracts View.
3. Select all contracts and open advanced search.
4. Enter product ID BBB.
5. Click go.
6. There is one Released Contract CCC for company PP(CCC is the contract ID, PP is the company ID).
7. Click edit.
8. Go to Tab Items.
9. Filter product ID BBB. You see the status is Active for Sourcing, system is using the value to calculate the cost estimate.

By default, the system picks any available Purchase Contract Price without considering the combination of the company and the material.

In the backend we have a BC setting which enable system to consider company specific Purchase Contract Price. Since this is optional functionality, you have to report an incident if it is needed and we will do the required settings in your system.
