Summary:
This article shows how Length of Custom fields in Custom Quote Tabs for permission read-only can be changed.

Details:

When we add custom field in customer quote tab with editable permission the length of that field is small as compared to that with read-only permission, please refer the below screenshot

The permission of same custom field is set to read-only the length of the custom field in custom quote tab is longer as compare to that of editable permission.

 
Solution/Workaround:
This is the bug and will be fixed in next CPQ 2016.3 release.
