3234849 - CMT : CPQ Error: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" when Importing Attributes

Symptom

CPQ Error: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" when Importing Attributes

Resolution

Applies To:

CPQ

Summary:

When uploading an Attribute under CPQ Setup > Product Catalog > Attribute Import, you get the error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

Details:

When you import templates, the system will either try to add those new attributes, or update existing attributes if you're altering existing ones. A common causes for this error message is that you're trying to upload a template where the Index ID is not listed in numerical order.

Solution/Workaround:

If the attributes are not listed in the numerical order of the Index IDs, alter the Excel file so that  it so that the first attribute on the list starts with 1, and progressively increases by a 1 (from the top rows, 1, 2, 3, 4... etc).
