3236468 - Activities Logs sometimes show unexpected records in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

  • In the Activity Logs of the SAC, it is sometimes possible to find out some activities which show the access to stories on the evening timestamps, although it could be confirmed that these users do not log into the tenant and open related stories.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud 2022.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log on SAC tenant.
  2. Go to Security, and select Activities.
  3. Observe that it is sometimes possible to find out some activities which show the access to stories on the evening timestamps, although it could be confirmed that these users do not log into the tenant and open related stories.

Cause

  • This is by design behaviour as of SAP Analytics Cloud.
  • An internal microservice that deals with determining the popularity of a story is designed to gather the IDs of popular objects (e.g. widgets and entities) is doing the reading of the story. It is done at a specific time daily when a story has been viewed or updated by a real user within the last 24 hours.

Resolution

This is by design behaviour as of SAP Analytics Cloud.
