Symptom
When creating a calculation input control from a restricted measure calculation, the below error is shown:
"The hierarchy type used in this calculation input control does not match the hierarchy type used in the chart."
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud
Reproducing the Issue
- Login to sac.
- Go to stories section and create a new story.
- Add a widget (table or chart) and go to designer panel.
- Go to measures and create a new calculation in case of a chart or add a calculation selecting the three dots of "Measures" in case of a table.
- The calculation screen will be displayed, choose restricted measure type, select a measure and a dimension.
- Choose "new calculation input control" in the "values or input controls" section.
- A calculation input control screen will be displayed, click on the values input section.
- You will be prompted to select the values, choose the flat presentation hierarchy type and select all members then validate the calculation input control creation.
- An error is immediately displayed "The hierarchy type used in this calculation input control does not match the hierarchy type used in the chart. "
Cause
This is currently limitation of product.
Resolution
1.This is known limitation kindly vote for below improvement request.

2.You can use below workaround for now.
As a workaround,
a. Edit the calculation input control
b. change the value of "Show Hierarchy" from flat to different value.
c. select all individual values excluding the Parent Hierarchies.
d. This might allow to display the values as Flat presentation without any error in Restricted measure.
