3241903 - installation on Windows requires user in Administrators group - SAP ASE

Symptom

Installation of SAP ASE 16.0 on Windows OS selecting a different user which is part of the Administrators group. During the install seeing the following was selected:

  • In the installation panel titled 'Configure Servers with Different User Account'
     Do you want to setup the server(s) Windows Service to run under a different user account?  <<Yes>>

Configuration fails and does not create ASE entries in Windows Services:

Task succeeded: create the master device.
Running task: update SAP Server entry in registry.
INTERNAL ERROR: could not create Service Control Manager entry for SAP Server 'servername'. Operating system returned error: '
Operating system error = 1057'
Check the log (C:\SAP\ASE-16_0\init\logs\log0825.001) for more information.  Please make a note of this error and contact your SAP representative.
Error generating runserver file 'C:\SAP\ASE-16_0\install\RUN_servername.bat'.
Task failed: update SAP Server entry in registry. Terminating configuration.
Configuration failed.
Exiting.
The log file for this session is 'C:\SAP\ASE-16_0\init\logs\log0825.001'.
